Viewpoints Reflection

In class we did many different exercises and learned about several vocabulary terms in order to understand viewpoints. Tempo, duration, kinesthetic response, repetition, and spatial relationship were all terms we went over in class and then applied to the exercises. Tempo is the speed a movement or gesture is performed. Tempo can affect the meaning of an action. For example, if someone reaches out slowly to touch someone on the shoulder that could be a meaningful or touching moment. However, if this same movement is done at a normal speed it could come across as a normal action to get someone's attention. Duration is the length of time that something is done for. If someone stands still for only a moment it can mean they are reluctant to do something. Although, if the pause is continued for a longer period of time it can mean they are waiting for something. IB Solo Projects

Overall I thought that all of the IB solo projects were very well done. All of them were very different in both the genres of theater they were in and the way that they were performed. I thought that Olivia’s project was amazing. The entire time I was completely scared and even for several minutes afterward I was still terrified. My favorite part was when she blew out the candles because it built anticipation and tension for me as an audience member. Another part of her performance that I liked were the lighting and sound choices. The sound matched what she was doing on stage very well and the lighting definitely helped build tension. One of the parts where this happened was when there was a red light on the stage which symbolized blood.  Linda’s project was also very well done. I liked the concept of hers a lot because it was very clear what was happening throughout the entire performance. Day 1 IB Theater

1. Think about a memorable performance that you participated in and describe it. (1 paragraph) A memorable performance that I was in was the dress rehearsal for Les Mis. In this production I played Young Cosette and it was the first time that I would be performing on stage as a soloist. Throughout previous theater productions I was always in the ensemble so if I forgot what to do there was always someone I could look at. During this performance I was on stage all alone when I sang my solo song, so there was no one to hide behind. As a result of this I was very nervous even though this was only the dress rehearsal. I remember right before my song they were clearing the stage before I walked out and I didn't know when I should enter even though I had done it countless times. But I pulled it together waited for them to clear the stage and walked out to sing my song. When the lights came up I saw several of my teachers had come to watch the dress rehearsal, making me even more nervou...
