Me as a Performer

Most of my theater experience has been through middle school and high school musicals. I have had a lot of experience singing, dancing and acting throughout the five shows I have been a part of. These shows were Mary Poppins, Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables, and Footloose. The only other theater experience I have is from the Dramatic Arts elective that I took as a freshman. During this class I learned a lot about becoming a character, choosing the right blocking, and reacting to others on stage. I want to continue to develop these skills and more throughout IB theater.  I like a lot of things about theater but what I like the most is becoming another person entirely when I am on stage. I think that it is fun to transform myself and behave in ways/do things that I wouldn’t normally do. I also enjoy collaborating with others on scenes and reacting to what they do or say. Day 1 IB Theater

1. Think about a memorable performance that you participated in and describe it. (1 paragraph) A memorable performance that I was in was the dress rehearsal for Les Mis. In this production I played Young Cosette and it was the first time that I would be performing on stage as a soloist. Throughout previous theater productions I was always in the ensemble so if I forgot what to do there was always someone I could look at. During this performance I was on stage all alone when I sang my solo song, so there was no one to hide behind. As a result of this I was very nervous even though this was only the dress rehearsal. I remember right before my song they were clearing the stage before I walked out and I didn't know when I should enter even though I had done it countless times. But I pulled it together waited for them to clear the stage and walked out to sing my song. When the lights came up I saw several of my teachers had come to watch the dress rehearsal, making me even more nervou...
